This post will be a quick one...
Long story short, I have not paid full price for a smartphone since 2013! My phones are covered for free through my Wells Fargo credit card. All that's required is for the phone bill to be paid with the WF credit card. When you submit a claim, you will have to attach proof of that, so I recommend setting your phone bill on Autopay.
They cover broken or stolen phones up to $600, with a $25 deductible, 2 phones per 12 month period. They will usually have you take the phone for a diagnostic locally (they reimburse the diagnostic cost as well).
