The Rabbit’s foot

Rabbits

It is said that a rabbit’s foot brings luck. Is it true? Does a rabbit foot keychain subconsciously give you the motivation you need to grind harder? Does it coincidently bring luck/opportunity within reach?

I do believe there’s a common misconception about god, science, life, destiny, luck, and opportunity. In this post, I will talk a bit about higher powers and luck.

I don’t believe in mere coincidence. I have experienced, without fail, many moments when it’s just about that time where SHTF, and then a miracle happens. A job comes up, extra cash is found somehow, a “scratch-off” yields great winnings, and luck seems to be on your side. Sometimes, it just so happens that “a door closes, but a window opens”.

Having this happen to me so many times, I usually have faith that stuff will get better at the last possible moment, although, I always have a plan B, in case luck or god may not come through for me that time.

I know that a lot of people pray to god asking for something, and later, when they receive it, they say it was an act of god. My usual argument is that God (or whatever higher power you believe in) gives you the tools you need, so you can make it happen for yourself. God doesn’t directly place what you want on your lap.

In my life, when S is about to HTF, it gets me in survival mode, and I seek to get out of that hole, out of that helpless situation. When having a financial issue, I look for change under the couch, or I sell stuff on eBay. I make the effort, so I can feel like I am doing something to help the cause. Miraculously, my efforts pay off in an unexplainable way, and somehow, something unrelated happens, and S isn’t about to HTF anymore! Is it luck? Is it the higher powers? Is it a vibe I send out that somehow warrants an “act of god”?

Or maybe…could it be? ….is it just the extra effort that I put in?

I think that is a common misconception about the “higher power” business. Many people will ask for something through prayer, but put 0 effort into attempting to achieve it.

For example, one can pray for a new car and a corresponding loan with low interest. The higher powers give you mobility and free will to:

1. Get a job

2. Make money

3. Pay your bills

4. Build your credit

…And in turn, qualify for a low-interest loan (what you prayed for).

Similarly, this higher power also gives you the tools you need to:

1. Get to a dealership (car/bus)

2. Research cars and dealerships (phone/computer/internet)

3. Check a few cars out (the five senses: see, hear, touch, taste, smell) …don’t taste the cars :P

4. Buy a car (money, good credit)

In short, God isn’t in the business of delivering cars to your house (with the loans taken care of, and the title already in your name) after it is asked for through prayer. The car buying and lending process is something you must partake in, in order for it to happen.

As I said, it isn’t simply something god places on your lap but rather something you were able to accomplish by yourself, on your own, using the very tools god has given you.

Seek and you will find…
